This National Tree Week, Thanet Urban Forest is taking a look at four of Thanet's historic parks and how they have been plant with trees through the ages. we look at what trees were planted and investigate when and why they were likely to planted. The trees we see today were planted by previous generations. Some are now mature trees providing significant environmental and social benefits, while others are approaching the later stages of their lives.
So what can we learn from the planting of the past?
And, perhaps more importantly, what should we be planting and protecting now for the generations that follow us?
Join Peter Hasted for a series of relaxed and informal tree walks through Dane Park, Hartsdown Park, Northdown Park and Ellington Park, exploring the trees, history and changing landscapes of these much-loved public parks.
We are thrilled to be joined by Maroon Adventures, who strive to make nature, movement and outdoor adventure places of belonging particularly for Global Majority communities and people who experience barriers to accessing the outdoors.
Come along, have a walk, and have a good chat about trees.
