About this Event
In the most recent redesign of Grosvenor Square, climate-resilient and biodiverse planting has been at the core of the design.
Now that the gates are open, we want to invite you to explore this space through a particular focus on noticing and identifying plants and other wildlife. We will be using iNaturalist and Seek, apps to help us name wildlife. These records can be uploaded to public datasets, making you a citizen scientist and helping us build a baseline of the wildlife we're seeing in the space.
You don’t need to be an expert to take part! We'll be learning together. Think of this as a relaxed morning outdoors!
What is a Bioblitz?
A bioblitz is a concentrated period of time where the public get together and help create an dataset of all the wildlife in a particular space. As this event is short, we will be focussing on how to use the apps, taking some recordings, and talking about the redesign.

About Grosvenor Square
Grosvenor Square Gardens is 2.5 hectares of public green space in Mayfair surrounded by 18th century town residences. It is owned and managed on a not-for-profit basis by the Grosvenor Group. The Square has been radically reimagined to demonstrate how green spaces in cities can work harder for nature, and the wellbeing of those who rely on them. The redesign transformation features 70,000 new plants, 44 new trees, new wetlands and 80,000 new bulbs.
