About PIWA:
PIWA is an afro alternative artist here to make you move to the beat of her drum without fail when it comes to the rhythm and world she takes us with through her music!
ROTTEN is the second EP to be released by PIWA coming to listeners this spring . This sonic experience is a 6-track EP that captures the beauty that can emerge from life’s darkest, most stagnant moments, proving that even in decay, something new is always being born; anger based in fear is not a curse, it’s a hitlist waiting to be made.
Join us at The Epiphany center April 10 for an unforgettable night to catch the first live experience of PIWA’s new project ROTTEN accompanied by a live band and special guest performances.
About Alexis Plaen:
Alexis Plaen is a Chicago-based alt pop singer-songwrtier set to make her mark with her genre-defying debut album, Enjoy the Void. Originally from Minneapolis, Alexis blends her electronic pop rock sound, introspective lyrics, and multi-media artistry to build her surreal world of the Void, which chronicles her epic journey through an existential crisis. Alexis' lyrics explore themes of existentialism in a capitalist society, the search for meaning amongst chaos, connection, and transformation. She searches for the divine in the digital and the ethereal in the mundane, creating cinematic experiences that speak to a dreamscape of the human condition. By combining emerging technology with timeless stories and mediums, Alexis' world invites listeners to both escape reality and confront it at the same time.
Enjoy the Void's philosophical themes are deeply influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and a personal tragedy in 2023 when Alexis' apartment burned down during the making of the record. Although Alexis lost everything she owned to the fire (including her pet cat), she slowly rebuilt as they finished the album and her resilience and healing journey have become infused into the fabric of the Void. Her stories have become more than just songs— they are a rallying cry for change, personal reflection, and growth from an unyielding spirit. From sculpting her own props to hosting immersive events for fans, Alexis is just getting started and has no plans to slow down.
