PINOCCHIO: THE WOODEN BOY
Rebelòt Theatre and the Italian Cultural Center of San Diego bring Carlo Collodi’s timeless masterpiece to the stage in a playful and imaginative production created for young and young-at-heart audiences! Guided by a lively Storyteller, children follow the adventures of the world’s most famous wooden puppet as he encounters the Fox and the Cat, travels to Playland, gets the advice of his Fairy, faces the consequences of his choices, and discovers what it truly means to become a real boy.
Combining live performance, dance, handcrafted masks and costumes, and original stop-motion animation, Pinocchio - The Wooden Boy introduces children to different forms of theatrical and visual storytelling. The stop-motion sequences bring to life some of the story’s most fantastic moments—including Pinocchio and Geppetto’s adventure inside the giant sea creature—while preserving selected passages and essential themes from Collodi’s original work.
The audience does not simply watch the story: children are invited to participate, interact with the characters, and learn the Puppet Dance as they become part of Pinocchio’s journey. Entertaining and educational. Presented in San Diego during the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the show offers families a joyful encounter with one of Italy’s most celebrated literary characters.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2023 by Italian actress, director, and writer Silvia Bottini, Rebelòt Theatre creates original, interactive performances that introduce young audiences to Italian literature and culture. Its productions combine professional live theatre with music, projections, handcrafted scenic elements, and active audience participation.
