This beautiful walk is a circular trail of approx. 5.5 miles (9km), easy to moderate walking around Piethorne Valley just outside Newhey, Rochdale. This valley houses a number of pretty reservoirs that we will pass enroute and offers some spectacular scenery of the surrounding South Pennine moors.There will be some elevation (1,245ft / 380m), including a couple of short steep climbs. This route takes us across moorland with some potentially boggy spots, but we will also be following well surfaced paths. There will be some stiles enroute, including a ladder stile, which may be awkward for some dogs.
As with all Abigail's Trails, this is a small-group guided walk led by Abi, a professional Mountain Leader. Spaces are limited and cost £12 per person. Well behaved, friendly dogs are welcome, but may need to be on leads for a few sections on this walk to protect livestock.
