About this Event
The wait is finally over... Sheffield's own (now world famous) Pickle Fest is BACK for another year.
We will be releasing more information about the detail of the day in the coming weeks and months but for now you can expect (and anticipate with delight): bands! workshops! a market! food! and you better get your best fermenting hats on and get sterilising those jars for the return of the community judged pickle competition.
SUGGESTED DONATION
As ever it is a PAY WHAT YOU CAN event so nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. However, although Pickle Fest is completely volunteer run, we like to pay people fairly for their time and their art!
So to enable us to pay facilitators and artists, and to continue to enable Social Pickle to tackle food waste, acquaint even more people with their bellies full of microbes, and to be able to host more activity for you all to get involved with - please donate if you can!!

COMPETITION
Submit your homemade creations in the following categories between 14:00 - 16:30:

➪ Vinegar
➪ Pickles
➪ Ferments (krauts, kimchis, veggies)
➪ Hot Sauce
➪ Not-Hot Sauce
➪ Firm Ferments (miso, cheese, etc)
➪ Chutney
➪ Pastes
➪ Drinks (no alcohol)
Tasting and (collective) judging begins at 16:30 and ends at 19:00 with live music to serenade you as the scores are being counted. The PICKLE CHAMPIONS will be announced at 21.00 with a live stream on our instagram for all those pickle enthusiasts waiting for results in the comfort of their own home!
FOOD + DRINK
Alongside the comeptition entries we will be selling warming home-cooked vegan food between 15:00 - 20:00. Social Pickle operate a pay-what-you can model so no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Steamworks will be running a bar with non alcoholic and hot drinks also available.
MARKET, ACTIVITIES + WORKSHOPS
From 14:00 - 17:00 we will have market stalls selling scobies, merch, and more! There will be family friendly activities including a pickle library, drop in workshops, arts + crafts. And we will also soon be announcing workshops with a limited number of places to book onto!
LIVE MUSIC
We will have live music from 19:00 - 21:00 to delight your ears while the votes are being counted and the certificates are being drawn up!

ACCESSIBILITY
Steamworks is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet.
We have taken on feedback from last year about everything being in the same room together being overstimulating and hopefully this year with different elements of the festival taking place in separate spaces and with heavy dividing curtains it should be less overwhelming! There will be a quiet area for the workshops and talks to take place separate from the competition and market.
There will be seating available. There will be low-fodmap, dairy free, and gluten free food options available. We will have accessibility volunteers on hand on the day to assist with any additional needs where possible.
