Ava Lucanus is the founder of Edge Communication, bringing over four decades of experience helping organisations, including community pharmacies, deliver exceptional patient experiences. She works with teams to build practical skills that create meaningful interactions, strengthen relationships, and keep people coming back.

This workshop explores how communication shows up in real‑world practice, especially the consistency that shapes patient experience across teams. It focuses on the small, everyday moments that matter most, from first greetings to tone, reassurance, and how delays are handled.

Participants will work through practical frameworks to build trust, manage conflict, and balance empathy with clear, logical communication, helping ensure patients not only feel valued, but choose to return.

Dr Kylie McKenzie is a clinical psychologist and highly experienced Motivational Interviewing trainer across Australia, with over 20 years’ experience working in health and public hospital settings. A member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), Kylie specialises in helping healthcare professionals translate communication principles into practical, real‑world interactions that support behaviour change.

This workshop explores Motivational Interviewing as a core communication skill for modern Ph*rm*cy practice. While essential for prescribing pharmacists, it is equally relevant for all pharmacists, supporting more meaningful patient engagement and better health outcomes.

Participants will learn how to continually refine and apply Motivational Interviewing in everyday practice. The session will highlight how this skill underpins patient-centred care, helping pharmacists navigate behaviour change conversations with confidence, empathy, and purpose.

Building on the strong foundation Ph*rm*cy 777 has already established in patient engagement strategies, this workshop positions Motivational Interviewing as a critical evolution and a key bridge to the future of Ph*rm*cy practice.

Mal brings over 20 years’ experience in the Australian Ph*rm*cy industry, with deep expertise in merchandise, front‑of‑shop and Ph*rm*cy business performance. He has held senior leadership roles with global brands including Cadbury, Coca‑Cola and Shell, as well as EBOS, and most recently led a $600M retail business at Farmlands in New Zealand.

Since 2015, Mal and Bruce have been highly regarded contributors to the Australian Journal of Ph*rm*cy and co-authors of Ph*rm*cy Matters, bringing practical, real‑world insight to Ph*rm*cy business success.

This workshop explores how the look and feel of your Ph*rm*cy shapes patient experience, trust, and service uptake.

Participants will examine key touchpoints from entry to exit, identify friction areas, and uncover practical improvements to create a more consistent, professional, and welcoming environment. You’ll leave with simple changes you can implement immediately to elevate the in‑Ph*rm*cy experience.

Professor Geoff Sussman is a leading international expert in wound care, with extensive experience across clinical practice, research, and education. An Adjunct Professor at Monash University and recipient of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM), he is a founding member of both Wounds Australia and the World Union of Wound Healing Societies.

Geoff is passionate about supporting the allied health community, equipping primary care teams with the knowledge and practical tools to elevate wound care services and improve patient outcomes.

In this highly practical session, Professor Geoff Sussman will share his expertise on aging skin, wound prevention, and effective bandaging techniques in everyday Ph*rm*cy practice.

Designed to build both confidence and capability, this workshop will translate real‑world clinical insights into clear, actionable approaches pharmacists can apply immediately. From understanding the risks associated with aging skin to selecting and using the right bandaging techniques, participants will gain the skills needed to better support patients and improve outcomes.
