A good title would be:Photography for Beginners: The Art of Composition — Building Stronger Images
Join our Photography for Beginners Meetup, designed for anyone looking to better understand how to compose stronger, more engaging photographs.
This session will focus on the fundamentals of photographic composition — how we arrange people, objects, lines, shapes and space within the frame, and how those choices influence where the viewer looks and how an image feels.
We’ll explore a range of compositional techniques, including the rule of thirds, leading lines, framing, symmetry and asymmetry, negative space, layers, perspective and balancing elements within the frame. We’ll also look at when these guidelines are useful — and when breaking them can create a stronger photograph.
Along the way, we’ll cover relevant camera settings, focusing and other essential photography fundamentals, with plenty of practical shooting exercises designed to help you recognise and experiment with different compositions.
The exact content will remain flexible depending on the experience and questions of the group, allowing us to spend more time on the areas that are most useful on the day.
We’ll finish by reviewing some of the photographs taken during the session, discussing how composition affected each image, what worked and what could be approached differently.
