Event Description:
Join us for an early-morning for a private specialized photography adventure at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, located approximately 1½ hours north of Fort Worth. We’ll plan to arrive around 8:00 AM and begin our morning with a drive around the refuge, searching for and photographing the wintering Snow Geese, Ross’s Geese, and other waterfowl that call Hagerman home during the colder months.
After spending some time outdoors with our cameras, we’ll warm up indoors and hear from refuge docents about the history of Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, the habitat, and the seasonal geese that make this area such a special destination for birders and photographers. After a stop at the gift shop and bathrooms, we’ll head back outside to continue exploring the refuge and photographing along the lake and surrounding habitats via a tram tour!
Bring your camera, telephoto lens, warm layers, and a sense of adventure—this is a morning dedicated to wildlife, photography, and exploring a unique natural area in Texas!

If you prefer to meet us at Hagerman, we will arrive at the Visitor Center a little before 8AM! Everyone can hop in the van as we drive around.
All skill levels welcome, bring your favorite gear and your passion for birds and photography!

What to Bring: Telephoto lens for waterfowl (300mm or longer). Some of the geese are along the side of the road if we are lucky, so you can use a 70-200mm if you prefer this lens. Multiple batteries and memory cards! Warm clothes and hand warmers depending on the weather.
Tripod/monopod for large lenses and gimbal head if you need it for your own gear. Binoculars if you have them!
Skill Level: All levels welcome – instruction and tips provided throughout the event.
