About this Event
Do you have family photographs you would love to know more about? Join historian Dr Brandon Taylorian for a free, hands-on Photo Detectives workshop at Liverpool Central Library.
Learn techniques for dating and interpreting nineteenth- and early twentieth-century photographs using clues including photographic formats, photographer imprints and studio addresses, clothing, hairstyles, props, backdrops and composition. You will discover how photographs can open new routes into family and local history research and reveal stories that may otherwise remain hidden.
Bring your own photographs to investigate during the session. No previous knowledge is required, making the workshop ideal for beginners, family historians and local history enthusiasts.
Photo Detectives on Tour is led by Dr Taylorian of the University of Lancashire in partnership with Liverpool Libraries and supported by a Royal Historical Society Scouloudi Public History Grant. The event is free to attend.
