About this Event

The Phoenix Children's 15th Fetal Cardiology Symposium includes a three-day educational conference (General Sessions are from Nov 6-8, 2026) that explores important concepts in congenital heart disease and advances in imaging, diagnosis and management of fetal cardiac abnormalities. For an additional purchase, there are also several Advanced Educational Session options on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

In addition to evaluation and management of fetal cardiac disease, there will be sessions focused on origins of heart disease, neurodevelopment and challenges in prenatal counseling. Attendees have the opportunity to submit and present challenging cases of fetal cardiac disease in the Norman H. Silverman: The Case That Gave Me Chest Pain competition. Attendees are also invited to submit original research abstracts for oral presentation.

Six Advanced Educational Sessions tracks will be offered on Thursday, Nov 5, 2026:

  • The 5th Advanced Fetal Imaging: Ultrasound & MRI Course, chaired by Dr. Luis Goncalves, will focus on state-of-the-art fetal imaging of cardiac and extra-cardiac anomalies.
  • The Pathologic Specimen and Fetal Echo Review Course, co-chaired by Ms. Diane Spicer and Dr. Ericka Hatfield, will display pathologic congenital heart specimens and correlating fetal echo imaging enhancing the educational opportunity and understanding of basic congenital heart disease.
  • The Nurse Coordinator Collaborative, co-chaired by Ms. Laura Bardeguez and Ms. Kelsey Connor, will focus on patient education, collaboration, and challenging care coordination cases. We will incorporate an opportunity to collectively brainstorm programmatic development to bring back to your program to enhance the care of your patients and families.
  • The Hands-on Fetal Echo Learning Lab, chaired by Drs. Rob Puntel and Marie Chevenon, provides the opportunity to scan live pregnant models, alongside expert sonographers and physicians. Additional sonographer focused didactic teaching on enhancing your fetal echo imaging. There is a limited number of tickets to this session.
  • The Fetal Heart Society 6th Annual Scientific Session is chaired by Drs. Lindblade and Donofrio with support from the FHS Conference Committee. This one day conference will include sessions: Year in Review of FHS research, Looking Beyond Cardiac Anatomy for Challenging Disease, and Maternal Factors that Impact Outcome in Fetal CHD. We are also excited this year to welcome the 6th Annual Perspectives in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Conference for an amazing session to review the interplay between the heart and lungs in the management of babies with congenital diagnoses.
  • The Phoenix Children’s 6th Annual Current Perspectives in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) Conference,  chaired by Dr Pamela Griffiths,  provides updates in interdisciplinary management of infants and children with BPD, including cardiorespiratory, nutritional, and developmental care strategies, as well as ongoing research. Speakers include local and national experts, as well as a panel of parents to share their perspectives on providing optimal family-centered care. This session is designed for physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, developmental care specialists, and others who partner in the care of children with BPD.

Lectures, interactive case study and panel discussion formats will focus on expanding evidence-based care management strategies for clinical decision making. Speakers are nationally and internationally prominent experts, which creates an authoritative learning venue for fetal cardiology and fetal imaging.

This symposium is designed for physicians, including pediatric cardiologists, maternal fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, neonatologists, radiologists, geneticists, pathologists, sonographers, nurses, other paramedical colleagues and trainees.
