For the next PHDs & Pints, join Dr. Shane Snipes, entrepreneurship educator and AI researcher at CUNY, for a provocative conversation about what happens when artificial intelligence meets entrepreneurship.
Shane's work sits directly at that intersection. He develops AI-integrated entrepreneurship programs and studies how emerging technologies can help people become better problem-solvers, collaborators and business builders. His approach treats AI less like an answer machine and more like a tool for co-creation—something that can help people explore markets, challenge ideas and build stronger business models.
We'll explore questions like: Can ChatGPT genuinely make you more entrepreneurial? What parts of starting a business can AI already do surprisingly well? Does easier access to AI democratize entrepreneurship—or just create more noise? What human skills become more valuable as AI gets better? Can AI improve creativity and decision-making without replacing our own judgment? And what happens when everyone has access to the same incredibly powerful tools?
Shane brings experience from both sides of the equation. Before academia, he co-founded a sustainability-focused company, worked in innovation labs and consulted on business strategy and technology. Today, he teaches entrepreneurship while experimenting with how AI can be incorporated into the process of actually creating businesses.
Expect practical examples, big questions, a few uncomfortable truths about the AI hype—and probably some ideas you'll want to try yourself.
