About this Event
The Prince George Backcountry Recreation Society (PGBRS) is pleased to present an evening with two inspirational northern BC adventurers. Guest presenters, Taylor Bachrach and Kristen Cooper will be featuring films of their recent endeavours.
Taylor Bachrach’s film: Full Circle – Paddling Home in the Skeena Watershed.
Last July, Taylor Bachrach set out from his home in Smithers in a folding canoe to complete a new 850-kilometre loop through the Skeena watershed. Along the way, he encountered wolves, bears, whales, and people whose connection to the land spans thousands of years. His presentation includes a screening of Full Circle, the film documenting his solo journey.
Kristen Cooper’s film: 81 km, 9 days, Solo – Swimming the Length of Stuart Lake
Kristen Cooper is an avid adventurer, exploring the areas around Fort St James through self-propelled, multi-day, solo trips. In August 2026, she set out to swim the length of Stuart Lake, solo while pulling her own gear and camping on islands along the way. In nine days, she covered 81km while documenting her journey.
The 8 Mile Cabin on the way to Grizzly Den is nearing the end of its life. This event is a fundraiser for the PGBRS 8 Mile Cabin Rebuild Project. Please come out and support volunteer efforts to improve our local outdoor amenities, while taking in tales of two epic journeys. The Thirsty Moose is open after the event in case you are feeling social.
