Why did Santa arrive in Peyia by FIRE ENGINE? Apparently, the sleigh doesn’t get every job.
That really happened at Peyia’s Christmas celebration in 2022. The following year, Santa switched to a vintage car. We’re still waiting to hear how he’ll travel this time…
But look through our photos from 2025 and you’ll see why this evening deserves a place in the family diary. Children in Santa hats gathered around microphones. Parents trying to get a clear view. A square full of people waiting for Christmas to light up.
One practical lesson from those photos: if the children want to see the singing, arrive before the crowd fills the square. Standing at the back with your phone held above everyone’s heads isn’t quite the same.
Peyia’s Christmas lights switch-on is advertised for:
 Friday 4 December 2026
 From 6pm
 Peyia Village Square, Paphos, Cyprus
What’s on the festive list?
 Christmas lights switch-on
Christmas stalls and food — advertised for 2026
School choirs, carols and live music — previous celebrations
Santa visiting with gifts for children — a past favourite
Festive treats and warming refreshments — offered in earlier years
The full 2026 programme is still to follow, so Santa’s appearance and the previous activities aren’t yet confirmed.
Our advice? Bring a warm layer, leave time to park and make an evening of it. If you’re holidaying in Coral Bay or Peyia, this is a lovely opportunity to join the local Christmas celebrations.
There’s only one switch-on evening currently advertised. Save the date before December plans take over.
