"The Look of Love" is THE highly acclaimed musical journey of multi Grammy award winning songwriter Burt Bacharach, performed by "the captain" Peter Cupples and some of Australia's greatest session musicians, for a night of Bacharach magic.With an extensive music career spanning almost five decades, which includes fronting Stylus in the mid 1970's, Peter Cupples continues to delight audiences around Australia with a voice that is a mix of pure soul & touch of country.
For those that can remember, Stylus cemented its place in the history books when they signed to Motown soul label Tamala Motown — the first Aussie act to do so - which was home to artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and Smokey Robinson.
Stylus recorded four albums which included hits such as Summer Breeze, World of Make Believe, So Much Love and Work Out Fine (to name a handful), before calling it quits in 1980. Peter went on to have an incredibly successful solo career, with his first solo single Fear of Thunder a national Top 20 hit.
Over the years Peter was a regular face on television, from his regular spot on the Midday Show to his appearances on shows such as Hey Hey It’s Saturday and Tonight Live with Steve Vizard.
For 15 years straight Peter performed on the Channel 9 annual Christmas Eve spectacular Carols By Candlelight at Myer Music Bowl, and most famously Peter took the coveted spot of opening the show for Frank Sinatra at Sanctuary Cove!
The Bacharach show covers all songs that are familiar to everyone; The Look of Love, Do You Know the Way to San Jose, Close to You, Walk on By, That's What Friends Are For, This Guys In Love With You, Never Fall In Love Again and many more... As well as songs that were written by Bacharach for movies that include; Alfie, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Caught Between The Moon and New York city, and many, many more....
