He bought a ticket, jumped on a plane and set off. No Rough Guide in the world could have prepared him for the consequences.
With no props beyond his voice, body and imagination, Searles transforms a bare stage into Amazon riverboats, Andean villages, bustling cities and some of the world's most notorious prisons.
Along the way he encounters drug smugglers, Maoist guerrillas, Carmelite monks, Amazonian communities, a French shaman, crocodiles, jaguars and giant centipedes in a hilarious, moving and unforgettable true story.
An internationally touring one-man show and the first in the acclaimed Hey Gringo! trilogy. Inspired by Peter Searles' backpacking adventures through Peru in the mid-eighties, 'Through Peru' blends comedy, character acting and storytelling into an exhilarating theatrical journey.
