About this Event
Inspired by the Good Grief: Nature Walking Through Grief and Loss model, the Pet Loss Grief Walking Group hopes to provide a space for those who have experienced the loss of a companion animal to navigate their grief and build a supportive community.
The walk is a 3km gentle walks on paved pathway on Nose Hill Park offering time to connect with nature and experience its healing power, with the support of Volunteer Companions who guide the group.
Participation is free and open to the public.
If you have mobility or other restrictions that could impede your participation in this program, don't hesitate to contact [email protected] before you register.
This program is not intended to be a counselling session or therapy experience, but simply a time to walk in nature with others experiencing a shared transition path.
Regardless of where you are with your current grief experience, spending time in nature with people who are on a similar journey can be just the support you need.

Walking Details:
We will meet at Shagannappi Trail parking lot to Nose Hill Park at the top of the hill on the east side of the parking lot.
Be advised that ParkRun happens simultaneously from the Shagannappi Trail Parking Lot at the bottom end of the parking lot.
Please arrive early to allow for plenty of time for parking as this can be a popular entrance to the park. If the parking lot is full, you may need to park in the Edgemont community and walk over.
We will be walking through parts of the off leash dog areas on Nose Hill, but all participating dogs are required to remain on leash.

Program runs rain or shine with possible cancelation when severe weather is forecasted. We encourage participants to dress in layers to be ready for a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
Dog attendance: Dogs are welcome to attend the pet loss grief walking group but must remain leashed and be under the control of the owner. We request that each owner think about the wellbeing of their pet and other participant members when determining if their dog is the right fit for the walking group. If a dog is deemed to be disruptive or aggressive then we may ask that they remain home while their owner participates.
