About this Event
W.I.N. Personal Safety & Self-Defence for Kids (Ages 7–12)
Build Confidence. Learn Safety Smarts. Develop Skills for Life!
Every parent wants their child to feel safe, confident, and prepared to navigate the world around them. The W.I.N. Personal Safety & Self-Defence program gives children ages 7–12 the opportunity to develop practical life skills in a fun, supportive, and interactive learning environment.
Through age-appropriate discussions, engaging activities, real-life scenarios, and hands-on practice, children will learn how to recognize potentially unsafe situations, trust their instincts, communicate assertively, establish personal boundaries, and make safer choices.
A Unique Hands-On Experience: Practice with a Padded Attacker!
One of the most exciting and memorable parts of the program is the opportunity for children to practice their newly learned skills with a padded attacker in a controlled, supervised, and supportive environment. This interactive experience allows participants to put their skills into action, practice responding to simulated situations, and experience what it feels like to use their voice, create space, and apply basic self-defence techniques.
This practical component helps bring learning to life while allowing children to build confidence, develop body awareness, and reinforce the importance of personal safety, escape, and seeking help.
What Will Your Child Learn?
- Confidence & Empowerment: Build self-esteem, recognize personal strengths, and understand that their voice matters.
- Personal Boundaries: Learn about personal space, practice saying “NO,” and understand that it is okay to speak up when something doesn't feel right.
- Safety Smarts: Develop awareness of their surroundings and learn practical strategies for staying safer at school, at home, online, and in the community.
- Recognizing Unsafe Situations: Explore age-appropriate scenarios to identify warning signs, recognize uncomfortable behaviour, and understand when to seek help.
- Communication & Assertiveness: Practice using a strong voice, confident body language, and clear communication to express boundaries and ask for help.
- Basic Self-Defence Skills: Learn introductory techniques focused on protecting themselves, creating space, getting away from danger, and finding help.
- Hands-On Padded Attacker Practice: Put learning into action through supervised, simulated scenarios using a padded attacker, helping children practice techniques in a practical and engaging way.
- Trusted Adults & Getting Help: Identify trusted adults and learn what to do if they feel unsafe or someone ignores their boundaries.
- Making Safe Choices: Practice responding to common childhood situations while understanding that their safety matters more than being polite or pleasing others.
Why Sign Your Child Up?
This program is about so much more than self-defence. It's about helping children develop the confidence to speak up, the awareness to recognize potential risks, and the skills to respond to challenging situations.
Children will have opportunities to ask questions, participate in interactive exercises, practice new skills, and learn alongside their peers in a positive and encouraging environment.
Our goal is for every child to leave feeling stronger, more confident, more aware, and better equipped to navigate the world around them.
Give Your Child Skills That Last a Lifetime!
Personal safety is an essential life skill. By introducing these concepts early, you're helping your child build a foundation of confidence, self-awareness, healthy boundaries, and personal empowerment that can grow with them.
