About this Event
Are your family or friends in town for the holidays and you need something fun to do? Join Jen Urso, Phoenix’s renowned mapmaker, for a hands-on Personal Life Map Workshop!
You don’t need drawing skills or artistic talent—just bring your stories and a sense of your (or someone else’s) journey to sketch them out on paper. Discover how to craft a unique map that captures your own or a loved one’s life story. Jen Urso, founder of Steady Hand Maps, specializes in creating personalized "Life Maps" that blend memories with geographical elements into captivating illustrations.
During the beginning of the workshop, Jen will explore the history of mapping, share creative map examples and share her own, unique approach to mapmaking. You’ll learn practical techniques for plotting memories on paper and using simple iconography.
Then, we'll dive into creating your own map! Whether you’re sketching, tracing, or planning your layout, Jen will guide you through the process. She’ll be available to assist each participant in visually narrating their unique story. By the workshop’s end, you’ll proudly take home your personalized map—crafted entirely by you.
Suggested to bring (if you have it): a notebook or something to take notes or sketches in, your own art supplies that you feel comfortable working with.
