Empower your management team by developing their skills in giving and receiving personal feedback.
About this Event

Course Overview

Personal feedback can be a powerful tool for building strong, effective relationships with your colleagues. By challenging people positively and clearly on the way they behave or go about their work, you’ll create an environment for open, honest communication, improved performance, and personal growth.

But giving personal feedback is hard. It can feel uncomfortable, or even unkind. Theatres and productions survive through the power of strong teams and great relationships.

This workshop explores the concept of radical candour and invites you to see feedback as a gift - a route to better support, celebrate, and grow the strengths of every member of your team - yourself included!

Run as a pilot with SOLT & UK Theatre in spring 2024, it’s also been delivered to every member of the team at Spektrix, marking the beginning of a cultural shift toward greater collaboration across the organisation.

“I understand more about myself in terms of how I give and receive personal feedback in the workplace.” Attendee, Go Live Theatre Projects

What does the training include?

This practical session will set out key principles, followed by a workshop to practise giving and receiving personal feedback. Throughout the day, you will:

  • Explore the concept of ‘radical candour’
  • Appreciate the value of giving and receiving personal feedback
  • Practise giving personal feedback in a facilitated, supportive environment
  • Shape your team to deliver effectively on business outcomes

Co-produced by SOLT, UK Theatre & Spektrix, this half day course is designed to support the development of mid- level arts managers.

The course takes place in-person at SOLT & UK Theatre (32 Rose Street, London, WC2E 9ET), and also includes an online follow up session roughly 40 days later to review attendees’ learnings and development.

“I commend them both highly for doing this training and I wish that more companies would take their lead.” Attendee, Donmar Warehouse
