About this Event

Registration is required for the Permission to Board Open House event.

UNCW’s Center for Marine Science is excited to showcase our new 78-foot R/V Osprey for an Open House event. The event will include vessel-related research booths and 15-minute timed tours of the Osprey to accommodate as many visitors as possible. For everyone’s safety and comfort, pets are not permitted.

We offer two Sessions for our Open House event.

To participate in all that the R/V Osprey Open House has to offer, we recommend arriving at the beginning of your Session to check-in, confirm your vessel tour, visit booths and plan to walk to the pier 15 minutes prior to your registered tour time.

Session One from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. includes meeting faculty, staff and students and learning about some of the current research happening at CMS with a focus on the vessel. If you are interested in a vessel tour, when registering make sure to choose a 15-minute time slot.

Session One and visitor parking ends at 11:15 a.m., as parking for Session Two visitors will begin at 11:30 a.m. We kindly ask you to be mindful of time as parking is limited.

Session Two from Noon to 2 p.m. includes meeting faculty, staff and students and learning about some of the current research happening at CMS with a focus on the vessel. If you are interested in a vessel tour, when registering make sure to choose a 15-minute time slot.

Please carefully note the Session and Tour Time of your registration.

Note: the walk to the pier is approximately 1/2 mile and traverses varied terrains, including asphalt, gravel and the wooden pier. The walk back from the pier to the parking area includes an incline. We strongly recommend wearing walking shoes.

Some areas of the vessel may not be accessible to individuals with certain mobility or other access needs.UNCW is committed to providing individuals with disabilities with an equal opportunity to participate in University programs and activities. If you require an accommodation to participate in the Osprey tour, or if the vessel's physical configuration prevents access to some portions of the tour, please contact [[email protected]] in advance. We will work with you to identify reasonable accommodations or an alternative means of accessing the event experience and information.
