In celebration of our Peoria Reads titles, Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley and Berry Song, by Michaela Goade, we invite you to join us at Columbia Park (next to McClure Branch) to explore and learn about Indigenous culture and history.
This family-friendly event features guest speakers as well as local artists and creators. We will also have food tastings and field games for everyone.

Free and open to all.

About our presenters:
** Chef Jessica Walks First (Pamonicutt), Ketapanen Kitchen

Chicago's first Native American Pop-Up Kitchen and catering Company
Born on the Menominee Indian Reservation in northern Wisconsin, but has spent many years in Chicago, home to one of the largest urban Indian populations in the country (100,000+).
** Dr. Nataka Moore, Mbwakowen Harambee Collective
Licensed clinical psychologist with 20+ years of clinical and academic experience
Faculty, Adler University, Dept. of Psychology
Human Rights Activist with experience leading social justice initiatives, nationally and internationally
** Jay Young, Executive Director of the American Indian Center in Chicago, one of the oldest urban Native centers in the U.S.
Enrolled citizen of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, Thunder clan
Visual Storyteller
Promoter/teacher of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK)
** Brooke Morgan, Curator of Anthropology & NAGPRA contact, Illinois State Museum Research & Collections Center
North American archaeologist, museum professional and NAGPRA practitioner

Her family is from the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota, but she lives in Freeport now
CEO of Quiet Souls Events and Education, a nonprofit promoting native culture through educational programs and special events.
