About this Event
People’s Media Camp is a three-day gathering organized by People’s Media Record for Philly’s grassroots memory workers and storytellers alike. Over the course of a weekend, we'll have workshops, skill-shares, roundtables, breakout sessions, screenings, collective mapping, art, and a The People's Bazaar (a free vendor market). Sessions will focus on mutual support, reciprocity, resource redistribution, and community activation in grassroots archiving and preservation, while also naming shared challenges, affirming one another’s efforts, and developing collective strategies to sustain this work.
Program Overview:
- Friday, October 3rd: Screenings of Archival shorts from 5-10pm, co-presented with Cinéspeak at the Calvary Community Center, 4703 Baltimore Ave, Philadelphia, PA, 19143
- Saturday, October 4th: Join us from 8am to 10pm for workshops, conversations, and activations. Come out for hands-on sessions where ideas meet action!
- Sunday, October 5th: Join us from 8am to 4pm for more workshops, conversations, activations, and the People's Bazaar, a free vendor market.
Full program details will be sent to all those who register in mid-September!
Accessibility:
All Camp venues have ADA accessible entrances. When you register, you will have the opportunity to list any accessibility needs you have, and we will work to meet them!
Age Restrictions:
Young people who are interested in the preservation of community stories are welcome at People's Media Camp. Additionally, we will provide childcare to support the participation of people with dependents. When you register, we ask that you share the number and ages of dependents you will bring with you for our planning purposes.
Community Care:
People's Media Record recognizes that the COVID pandemic is ongoing and continues to impact the lives of thousands of people. With this in consideration, PMR requests that event participants wear non-surgical, respirator masks (KN94, N95, or KN95 masks) when gathering, unless when they are eating. In all spaces, PMR will provide masks and air filters. We ask that all attendees monitor their health and refrain from participating if they feel sick or have any symptoms of a Covid-19 infection; test positive for Covid-19; or are required or advised by their health care provider or federal, state, or local health authorities to quarantine or isolate.
People's Media Camp is organized by People's Media Record, co-presented with Cinéspeak, and generously supported by the Independence Public Media Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
