The People of Hope Museum is a one-of-a-kind, tractor-trailer-sized mobile museum touring the country. It provides education on poverty in our state and across the U.S. and highlights meaningful encounters with families in need told by Catholic Charities staff and volunteers from across the country, including Catholic Charities of North Louisiana’s very own Carl Piehl.
The museum features:
- State-level poverty data visualizations will give visitors a greater understanding of poverty in Louisiana and across the United States.
- An interactive poverty simulation experience to gain a deeper understanding of how poverty impacts the lives of people across the country and right here in North Louisiana.
- Recordings of book excerpts about poverty, social isolation, bridgebuilding and community action, including excerpts from Shreveport's Mack McCarter
- A recording booth where visitors can share their own stories of hope
The community is invited to visit the museum on Wednesday, October 7-Thursday, October 8 from 10:30am-6:30pm at Catholic Charities’ main office: 902 Olive St. Shreveport, LA 71104.
