About this Event
Penny Rugs: Tradition to Modernity is a basic introduction to 19th-century penny rug fabrication techniques by completing an instructor-curated and pre-assembled wall hanging kit suitable for home decor or Christmas decoration.
Loring will provide all the materials to complete a wall hanging during the workshop.
Mimosas and pastries are included as part of your workshop fee.
This workshop stresses fundamental stitching techniques and the interrelationship between various fabrics, threads, and stitches used in appliqued felt and wool textiles.
The class is appropriate for both beginner and experienced adults.
Just bring your favorite sharp scissors, a thimble, paper, pen and pencil. All other workshop materials are provided.
Loring Boglioli is an accomplished fiber artist. She says: "My vibrant designs are based on attentive and dutiful use of materials, time, and basic techniques to the most inventive result. I exploit the vagaries and inconveniences of upcycled materials and welcome the resulting design challenge."
A few of her beautiful fiber designs are shown below.
