Purpose of the Ride
A remembrance motorcycle ride across Pembrokeshire to honour those who gave their lives in service and to raise funds for the Royal British Legion, Combat Stress and the Royal Navy Clearance Divers Association. The ride keeps the original memorial stops while making the journey itself a scenic Pembrokeshire motorcycle experience.
Recommended Scenic Route
Pelcomb Inn -> Newgale -> Solva -> St Davids Cathedral -> Fishguard -> Newport -> Narberth -> Tenby -> Pembroke -> Milford Haven -> Haverfordwest Castle Square.
The opening run via Newgale and Solva uses the A487 corridor and gives strong coastal views. The northern section continues through St Davids, Fishguard and Newport, combining the Pembrokeshire coast with views toward the Preseli Hills. After Narberth, the route heads south for Tenby and Pembroke before turning west through the Milford Haven area and back to Haverfordwest.
Must-Ride Sections
1. Pelcomb - Newgale - Solva: a flowing coastal approach with the descent toward Newgale and views across St Brides Bay.
2. Solva - St Davids: short, scenic A487 riding through exposed west-Pembrokeshire countryside.
3. St Davids - Fishguard: enjoyable north-coast A-road riding with bends, elevation changes and open views.
4. Fishguard - Newport: one of the strongest scenic stretches of the day, with coastal character and the Preseli landscape nearby.
5. Tenby - Pembroke - Milford Haven: a contrasting southern section linking seaside, historic townscape and the Haven waterway.
St Davids Remembrance Stop
St Davids Cathedral is the principal remembrance stop. The Cathedral's published general visiting hours are 10:00-16:00 Monday-Saturday. There is no general visitor parking at the Cathedral itself, so the group should use an appropriate public car park and walk down together. Allow enough time to assemble respectfully, conduct the reading and observe the two-minute silence without obstructing access.
Food, Coffee and Fuel
Start: Pelcomb Inn - tea and coffee are planned for riders on arrival by prior event arrangement.
Lunch: The Shack, Fishguard is the planned lunch stop. Because November trading can be seasonal, the organiser should reconfirm shortly before the event. Contingency: Ocean Lab Cafe, Goodwick (currently listed Saturday 10:00-16:00). Cove Corner in Fishguard is another useful fallback (currently listed Saturday 08:00-16:00).
Narberth: Morrisons Daily - Eastgate Garage is the primary fuel stop (currently listed Saturday 06:00-22:00). Stopio, Spring Gardens, is a useful optional coffee/regroup point (currently listed Saturday 08:00-17:00).
St Davids optional: Drifter Cafe and other town-centre cafés are available, but a formal café stop here is not recommended because of the daylight-limited November schedule.
Group Riding Plan
Use a designated Lead Rider and Back Marker. For a larger group, use a clearly explained second-man/corner-marker system: the rider immediately behind the lead marks each turn until the back marker arrives. Nobody should ride beyond their ability to keep up. The lead rider should stop the group at safe regroup points after any complicated junction sequence.
Before departure, confirm emergency contacts, the next planned stop, what to do if separated, and that riders should follow road signs and their own navigation rather than make unsafe manoeuvres to remain with the group.
November Riding Considerations
Saturday 14 November has limited daylight; sunset in Pembrokeshire is about 16:30. The schedule therefore targets Castle Square at approximately 16:00. Expect low sun, wet leaves, standing water, mud from agricultural traffic, colder tyre temperatures and rapidly changing coastal weather. The route should be pre-ridden shortly before the event and altered if there are closures, flooding, roadworks or poor surface conditions.
Donation Information
Suggested donation: £5 per motorcycle. Riders who wish to donate more are very welcome to do so.

Beneficiaries: Royal British Legion, Combat Stress and Royal Navy Clearance Divers Association.
Safety & Disclaimer
All riders are individually responsible for their own safety, riding decisions, motorcycle roadworthiness, licence, insurance and legal compliance. Riders must obey the Highway Code, speed limits and all road traffic laws. Participation is at the rider's own risk. The supported charities and event organisers are not responsible for individual riding decisions or incidents.
This route book and GPX are planning aids only. Road conditions, closures and access can change. The organiser should pre-ride the route and confirm cafés, fuel, parking and the Cathedral arrangements shortly before the event.
Final Organiser Checklist
One week before: reconfirm Pelcomb Inn arrival arrangements; confirm The Shack or activate the Goodwick lunch backup; check fuel availability; check roadworks/closures; confirm Cathedral arrangements if the group will conduct a formal reading; circulate GPX and briefing notes.
Day before: weather and flood check; final route check; charge phones/intercoms; confirm lead/back-marker team; print emergency/contact sheet.
On the morning: sign-in; collect donations; rider briefing; identify lead/back marker; remind riders of marker system; confirm lunch/fuel/finish points; depart at 10:30 sharp.
