Humans of all genders have a pelvic floor, and most of us have only a vague idea of what ours is doing.
Have you ever been told to "engage your pelvic floor" and wondered how? Or squeezed away at Kegels and felt more tension rather than more support? In this workshop we take a different route. Instead of clenching, we listen.
Your pelvic floor is the foundation of your core. It supports your lower abdomen, shapes how your pelvis moves, and influences how you sit, stand, walk and breathe. When it's neither too tight nor too slack, but responsive and alive, the pelvis can be stable and mobile at once. Many people notice a more easeful back, a steadier sense of balance and a greater feeling of support from within.
Through gentle, imaginative Awareness Through Movement lessons, mostly lying down, we'll explore the legs, hips, pelvis and breath, and discover how the pelvic floor connects with your wider core and your emotional centre. There's no forcing and no right shape to copy. You're invited to follow your own sensations with curiosity, and to be surprised by what you find.
No previous Feldenkrais experience needed. Suitable for all bodies, ages and genders.
What to bring: loose, warm clothing. Large mats are provided. There will be a break with tea and biscuits/dried fruit!
