Peggy, the Grande Dame of Buffalo jazz vocalists enchanted the near capacity audience last August 13. She returns on November 7th with a program that highlights the compositions of George and Ira Gershwin and that will also include eclectic selections ranging from 1800s Irish folklore to Willie Nelson inspired gypsy melodies, and her own compositions.
She hails from a large musical family, started singing early on. During the 60s she performed in NYC, often in famed Greenwich Village at clubs where Bob Dylan could be found. Upon returning to Buffalo she worked as a nurse at Millard Fillmore while raising her children and earned accolades when she worked and recorded with the legendary Al Tinney over an 18 year period.
Peggy will be accompanied by Pausa alumni Stu Weissman on guitar, John Bacon on drums, and Avery Weissman on upright bass. John and Stu, both multiple winners of their respective
JazzBuffalo Poll categories first met in the mid-80s as members of the Buffalo Jazz Workshop performing for the Albright Knox Summer Jazz Series. This ongoing series first began in 1978
under the direction of Phil Dire but was continued because of Stu's initiative.
This will be an intimate and charming presentation in an ambiance that only Pausa Art House can provide.
Thanks for supporting PAUSA art house, our musicians and live music in Buffalo. "Life is better with friends"
