About this Event

Course Description: This intermediate-level course provides audiologists with practical and clinically relevant instruction in pediatric evoked potential assessment. Participants will engage in lecture, case discussion, demonstration, and supervised hands-on training focused on auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), auditory steady-state response (ASSR), and clinical troubleshooting techniques. Through alternating didactic and laboratory-based instruction, attendees will develop skills in waveform identification, threshold estimation, protocol selection, interpretation of complex findings, artifact management, and efficient clinical workflow implementation. Hands-on training will include guided equipment setup, patient preparation, recording acquisition, data interpretation, and clinical problem-solving exercises under expert supervision.

Continuing Education: Earn 0.65 CEUs (6.5 hours)

Location: Nestled along the Guadalupe River, the Gruene River Hotel & Retreat offers an intimate setting where you can focus, recharge, and connect with others who share your passion for audiology. A boutique Hill Country property known for its charm, tranquility, and warm hospitality is the perfect place for river views and CEUs. Michelle Hsieh, AuD, PhD

Dr. Michelle Hsieh has been a pediatric audiologist at Dell Children's Ascension for sixteen years. She has worked extensively with the diagnostic audiological assessments of infants and children with an emphasis on auditory evoked potentials. She is dedicated to serving her community and in promoting the early identification of and intervention for pediatric hearing loss. She has served on the executive board of the Texas Speech Language Hearing Association and is an active member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She has presented state and nationwide on various topics in pediatric hearing loss.

Dr. Hsieh completed her education at the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her Doctor of Audiology in 2010 and her Ph.D. in 2013. She has conducted and published research in psychoacoustics and auditory physiology. She lectured there at the graduate and undergraduate levels from 2013-2022.
