Our homes are delayed. Our savings are gone. Our lives are on hold.Across Luxembourg, hundreds of families have been affected by delayed, abandoned, or unfinished VEFA housing projects. Many continue to pay mortgages, rent, loans, and legal expenses while waiting for homes that were promised years ago. Over 700 residences are late to be delivered. Meanwhile, we pay our taxes and our mortgages and receive no help from the state.
We are gathering to call for:
Better protection for VEFA buyers
Faster completion of unfinished developments
Governments help for current cases that have already been impacted (as they announced on 13/10 that only future cases will be helped)
Reconsideration of the mandatory two year tax break rule via the Bëllegen Akt (as some projects have been delayed by more than two years)
Stronger oversight of property developers
Greater transparency regarding project delays and insolvencies (We would like to ask the state to estimate how many projects are actually impacted)
Fair treatment and support for affected families (Legal support and compensation)
Faster legal procedures (the legal procedures take too long and are in favour of the building companies)
This is not a political protest. This is a citizens' movement bringing together families, homeowners, first-time buyers and residents who believe that everyone deserves certainty, transparency, and accountability when purchasing a home. The government has asked us to buy VEFA’s and to start families, yet when this goes wrong, we have not received any help.
