The community is invited to witness the dedication of the Peace Pole located at the south end of the Sundial Bridge. This project is funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of the North State, presented by Lynn E Fritz, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 45877), with Fiscal Agent and co-sponsor of the project, Shasta County Citizens Advocating Respect. The City of Redding Community Services Dept played a key role in facilitating the project.
The Peace Pole features the phrase "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in 7 languages to encourage us to make peacemaking central in our lives to help build healthier and safer communities. Native language speakers from the 7 languages will recite the phrase in their native language. The languages featured on the pole include: Wintu, English, Hebrew, Spanish, Mien, Lao, Punjabi.
Others co-sponsoring/endorsing the project include: Shasta Interfaith, Shasta Beloved Community, Anti Racism Task Force, Reciproka, Shasta County Office of Education, Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Frank Nigro, Mercy Foundation North, and others.
Those in attendance are invited to wear cultural clothing representing their specific culture.
This will be a brief presentation right at sunset in the beauty of the Sacramento River and Sundial Bridge, to inspire peace!
