About this Event
Peace Class with Mandy Kahn in the PRS Library
In celebration of the 125th anniversary of Manly P. Hall’s birth, Mandy Kahn presents a special, standalone session on peacebuilding in Hall’s historic library.
This 90-minute class is designed to provide attendees with a practical, immediate toolkit for inner peace through a sequence of guided meditations and visualizations. These practices are intended to lift the individual perspective into the "Peace Mind"—a higher state of consciousness characterized by peace-without-end, universal compassion, and a profound sense of purpose. By engaging in guided processes to clear the mental and emotional blocks that often obscure our natural state of tranquility, participants will create space for internal clarity and open themselves to receiving messages from their own higher selves.
These practices are rooted in the belief that cultivating inner peace is the essential foundation for a more peaceful society.
Whether you are a longtime seeker or entirely new to peacebuilding, this special meeting is an invitation to join with others who are passionate about building a better world from the inside out. It is a unique opportunity to experience a distilled exploration of the transformative power of peace in a powerful and historic setting.
The afternoon will place a special emphasis on Hall’s own enduring commitment to global peace and the specific, timeless guidance he left for those seeking to live a life of peace and purpose.
Mandy Kahn is a poet and peace teacher based in Los Angeles. She's been a featured speaker at many peace events, including at Peace Week, World Unity Week and One Planet Peace Forum, and she’s taught her weekly online peacebuilding class at the Philosophical Research Society for over five years.
In 2021, Kahn presented a two-day peace event at Meditation Mount in Ojai in conjunction with Dot Maver, director of the National Peace Academy, Fumi Johns Stewart, executive director of May Peace Prevail On Earth International, and Michael Lindfield, Meditation Mount’s board president.
She’s the author of three poetry collections, the most recent of which is Holy Doors (2023). Her poems have been included in the Best American Poetry anthology series, have been read on BBC Radio, and have been featured in the nationwide newspaper column American Life in Poetry.
Kahn presented a program of her peace-building immersive poems in a concert at the Getty Museum in 2019; this concert is the subject of Courtney Sell’s feature-length documentary Peace Piece: The Immersive Poems of Mandy Kahn, which was distributed by IndiePix and is available on many streaming services, including Amazon Prime.
This event is being hosted in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the birth of Manly P. Hall (March 18, 1901-August 29, 1990). Important to Manly Hall's mission in establishing PRS was to create a community library that is free and open to the public.
We are currently fundraising to help replace the library roof and provide public access to the library on Thursdays and Fridays from 12-6pm. If you would like to help support the PRS Library with building improvements and staffing please visit or email [email protected].
