PDX Jazz presents Student Sessions at AC Hotel Portland Downtown
Fall 2026 features students from Portland State University and Lewis & Clark College. This is a FREE community show.
Degrees of Freedom brings a modern sound to jazz classics, drawing on hip-hop, R&B, and each member’s personal influences. The Portland trio features Joshua Rivers on percussion, Oliver Medley on bass, and Ashton Bell on tenor saxophone. Together, they’ve performed at venues for the Mt. Hood and Montavilla jazz festivals, as well as Spinella’s in downtown Gresham. Their repertoire includes Rivers’s arrangements of songs by artists such as Erykah Badu and Faye Webster.
