Pastel Drawing for Beginners
Discover the vibrant world of soft pastels in this hands-on beginner class. You will learn basic handling and application techniques, plus blending, layering, and mark-making, before following a guided step-by-step project to complete your own finished pastel artwork by the end of the session. Perfect for complete beginners - no experience needed. Individual assistance and tips are provided throughout. Please bring your own pastels and pastel paper (a materials list is provided after booking). Duration 2 hours.
Please bring your own materials: a set of soft pastels, Pastelmat paper (or a similar pastel paper such as sanded or toned paper - if Pastelmat is unavailable locally, it can be ordered online), a board or rigid backing for your paper, masking tape, and wet wipes or a small cloth for your hands. Optional: bring an apron or wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty. Before the class, you may like to watch a beginner soft pastel tutorial by Jason Morgan Art on YouTube to familiarise yourself with the process - this is optional, as full step-by-step instruction will be provided during the session. We will meet inside Spokane Public Library - Central. Please arrive 10 minutes early.
