Celebrate the Forest Preserves of Cook County on National Public Lands Day. Arrive in the morning and make a toy boat with natural materials and join a 'regatta' down the river. Then become a citizen scientist and learn about the spooky zombie insects of Illinois with Neuroparasitologist Dr. William C. Beckerson of Lake Forest College. He will lead a local expedition to search for "zombie beetles" at River Trail Nature Center.
Stay until the afternoon to make a 'wildflower seed bomb' to launch into your own yard.
