Big Lines, Big Laughs: Large-Scale Partner Portraits
Ditch the tiny brushes, step back from the easel, and get ready to see your partner in a whole new perspective. In this high-energy, low-pressure workshop, you’ll trade fine detail for loose, dynamic mark-making as you draw large-scale portraits of each other from across the room.
We’re unrolling large sheets of paper across the studio floor and taping heavy-duty markers to long extension handles. Standing fully upright across from your partner, you’ll use long-range strokes, sweeping gestural lines, and plenty of laughter to capture their likeness, expressions, and energy on a grand scale.
By removing the ability to overthink or micro-manage your drawing, this technique opens up pure creative freedom, spontaneous movement, and bold, expressive results.
What to Expect:
- Zero Experience Required: This style is an incredible equalizer—whether you're a seasoned artist or haven't picked up a marker since grade school, everyone starts on equal footing!
- All Materials Provided: Paper, markers, extension handles, and drop cloths are all set up and ready for you.
- BYOB / BYO-Partner: Bring a partner, a best friend, a family member, or a blind date. No partner, no problem. We'll have staff on hand and can pair you with other individuals.
- Take Home Big Art: You’ll leave with ready-to-hang, oversized gestural portraits that are equal parts hilarious, expressive, and surprisingly striking.
Wear comfortable shoes you can stand and move in, and get ready for a loose, unforgettable night in the studio!
Lead by professional artist and our director - Candace Pruett. She has over 30 years as a creative, painting for designers, collectors, and herself. She loves to collaborate and play in her artistic practice.
