If someone else needed to care for your loved one for a day, a weekend, or longer, would they know all the little things you know without even thinking about them?At our September Parachute meeting, we talked about how helpful it can be to create a simple “instruction booklet” for the person you care for: their routines, preferences, meals, medications, communication, safety needs, and all those tiny details that live in a caregiver’s head.
Several caregivers asked if we could break the process down together over several meetings, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
**For October, we’re starting small: The Morning Routine.**
Before the meeting, spend a few mornings noticing and jotting down what actually happens from wake-up through the start of the day. Don’t worry about making it organized or pretty. Notes on your phone, a notebook, voice-to-text, or a messy piece of paper are all perfectly fine.
At the meeting, we’ll talk through what everyone discovered and begin turning those notes into clear instructions another caregiver could follow.
Over the coming meetings, we’ll keep building from there until you have the bones of a practical care guide created specifically for you son or daughter.
**You do not need to have attended the September meeting to participate.** We’ll help you get started wherever you are.
Come with your notes, your questions, or simply yourself. We’ll build this one piece at a time, together.
