About this Event
Join artist and facilitator Molly Almeida for a hands-on papercutting workshop inspired by Ketubah Renaissance, and turn the patterns, symbols and intricate details of the exhibition into a work of your own.
Start with inspiration from the gallery, then learn the basics of papercutting as Molly guides you through planning, cutting and composing your design. Play with shape, pattern and negative space while exploring the decorative traditions found throughout ketubah art. Follow your creative instincts and leave with a one-of-a-kind work on paper made by you.
No papercutting experience needed. Come ready to learn a new technique, get creative and experience Ketubah Renaissance through a maker’s eyes.
Ages 14 years and up welcome. Space is limited, so reserve your spot, grab a pair of scissors and get cutting!
ABOUT THE FACILITOR
Molly Almeida is an interdisciplinary visual artist working across drawing, printmaking, painting, and sculpture. Through narrative imagery and pattern, she explores questions of cosmology, consciousness, perception, and belonging.
Molly received her BFA in printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has worked as an artisan with the Cosanti Originals foundry at Arcosanti, specializing in sand-casting bronze and aluminum. Her studio practice also incorporates clay, fibers, and woodworking, bringing a sense of tactility, form, and material exploration to her two-dimensional work.
Inspired by the world around her, Molly seeks to distill a sense of curiosity and wonder into her art.
