Marble (marvel!) in the magic of color and pattern in this immersive and engaging art workshop taught by @kentbindery!
Learn the 1000 year old art of paper marbling with everyday tools & materials. We are floating pigment over carrageenan baths, creating color & texture patterns with the pigment, then “catching” that pattern with paper treated with “papermaker’s alum” (aluminum sulfate is a salt that makes paper textured for better paint adhesion).
Marbled papers have a variety of fun applications, like origami, stationary making, gift wrap, and book-arts.
Each student will create 10 marbled papers in this hands-on lesson.
In the interest of prioritizing guided paper marbling instruction for students, the alum paper and carrageenan baths will be prepared in advance. These steps will be explained at the beginning of class and outlined in detail in take-home instructions.

This workshop includes: a complementary take-home booklet of written step-by-step instructions, pictures, and QR codes to my IG/website for tutorials/questions. Class is two hours.
*!*IMPORTANT NOTE*!* In order to bring home your wet marbling papers, each student will be provided with a 30" x 40" corrugated board that must lay flat for drying. Please plan trunk space/transportation accordingly.

Jordan Kent Wozinski is a Long Beach, CA artist with a focus on recycled, sustainable and eco-friendly materials. She holds bachelor degrees in English Literature and Studio Art from Loyola University New Orleans.
