Agenda

Nov. 7, 2026 - "What I Carry/What I Leave Behind" Workshop
Host: Andrea Cardenal

Info: Participants choose two pieces of fabric. On one, they identify and stitch something they have inherited and want to carry forward: creativity, humor, faith, courage, tenderness, language, tradition, a recipe, a way of caring. On the other, they identify something they do not want to continue carrying: an expectation, fear, silence, perfectionism, shame, or pattern. Rather than requiring disclosure, these can be represented entirely through color, knotting, tearing, layering, symbolism and abstract marks. The "carry" fabric is stitched into a sort of pouch; the other can be altered, unraveled, obscured, or physically transformed.
Participants then write a short letter to themselves one year, five years, or ten years from now, responding to prompts such as: What do I hope you have protected? What do I hope you have released? What do I want you to remember about who you are today? They can transform the letter into a small textile artwork using fiber based materials.
