DUE TO HURRICANE ISAIAS WE HAVE POSTPONED THE PANEL DISCUSSION. IT IS TENTATIVELY RESCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18, 4:00 PM, IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE OPENING RECEPTION. WE ARE COORDINATING WITH THE PANELISTS TO CONFIRM THEIR AVAILABILITY FOR THAT DATE. STAY TUNED TO OUR CENTRAL ARTSANCTUARY FACEBOOK PAGE FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS.Central ArtSanctuary is hosting an exhibit at the Galleries @ Central Midtown (October 1 - November 14) featuring artwork by local artists exploring aspects of the natural and/or urban environments which reflect our Southern consciousness and are threatened with change, damage or loss due to natural or human causes, such as climate change, erosion, urban development, neglect. In association with this exhibit, a Panel of local organizations will address environmental challenges facing Mobile Bay and the Gulf Coast areas. Panelists will include representatives from the Alabama Coastal Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, the Dog River Clearwater Revival, and the City of Mobile. These organizations will share details on threats to our regional resources, efforts underway to protect and/or mitigate change/damage/loss to our Southern resources, and most importantly - what we as individuals or community can do to help make our Southern resources more resilient. Open discussion will also be encouraged to consider where we should focus our future efforts, how groups can work together, and how community members can participate to assist in these efforts.
The Panel Discussion will be immediately followed by the Opening Reception for the Art Exhibit, so there will be opportunity for enjoying the artwork, mingling with participants, and partaking in refreshments.
