About this Event
Come to the woods and the water for some intentional creative time. We will let ourselves experience the natural world with all of our senses and then transfer those emotions onto our canvases. Come with an openness to explore and to shut out the outside world, and enjoy the magic of the woods and the water. Watercolor or Acrylic paint supplies will be available.
Elder Tammy Villegas – Is a Black Indigenous mother to four sons and grandmother to one granddaughter. She currently lives and grew up in St. Paul, MN but spent many years in Los Angeles, CA. She is a Social Worker by trade as well as a Certified Reiki Master Practitioner and Master Teacher. She spends much of her free time enjoying her gardens as well as sharing the gifts of harvest with community. She loves fishing as well as sharing the art of fishing with our youth and community. She also incorporates the healing elements of water into her daily life whether through enjoying a peaceful sunset or painting or writing by the water. She believes in the natural world all around us and that it is our responsibility to protect her for the next generations to come.
PLEASE NOTE- Dress for the weather & be prepared to walk. Please drive into the second parking lot labeled "park entrance". We will meet under the pavilion. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!
This workshop is free and open to the public Hosted by Blue Hummingbird Woman Tanaǧidaŋ To Wiŋ is a Dakota and Anishnaabe mother. She grew up in Imnížaska (Saint Paul), Minnesota. She studied Dakóta language and culture at Metro State University. She is the author of Takoza: Walks With the Blue Moon Girl, Animals of Khéya Wíta, Animals of Nimaamaa-Aki, and Awáŋkičhiyaka pi. Tara is inspired by the loving hearts of her sons: she is a creator, plant medicine enthusiast, and has always loved to write. She believes in the healing power of storytelling.
