About this Event
Gallery Renaissance presents Harvey Rayner
Painting with Code, 13–18 October 2026, during Frieze Week in London.
For more than three decades, Harvey Rayner has developed an artistic practice using mathematics, algorithms and code as creative materials. Rather than asking a computer to make an image for him, Rayner builds and refines the underlying systems himself, creating generative works with the colour, texture and visual presence often associated with abstract painting.
Following his 2026 presentation with Art Blocks at Art Basel Hong Kong, Painting with Code brings Rayner’s practice into physical space through large-format works, framed prints and digital presentation.
The exhibition asks a simple question: what happens when code becomes the paintbrush?
Gallery Renaissance aims to introduce generative and computational art to a wider audience including people encountering the medium for the first time — and demonstrate how work born on a computer can take on an entirely different presence when experienced at scale, in a gallery and ultimately in the home.
