Pennsylvania’s jazz story is coming to Hershey! 🎷Join us for the Keystone Jazz Orchestra’s PA 250 “Our Jazz Story,” a concert celebrating Pennsylvania’s role in the history of jazz. It’s one stop on a five-city tour, and Hershey Middle School is hosting. The Hershey High School Jazz Combo will be opening for the Keystone Jazz Orchestra!
Keystone Jazz Orchestra (KJO) is an 18-piece all-star ensemble of acclaimed jazz musicians from across the state, directed by Maestro Marko Marcinko. The program follows jazz from its roots in New Orleans to its flourishing in Pennsylvania’s cities and towns, covering early jazz and swing, bebop, post-bop, and modern fusion. It highlights legendary artists with Pennsylvania connections, including John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Art Blakey, George Benson, Nina Simone, Henry Mancini, and Benny Golson.
Pennsylvania state representatives, led by Rep. Joe Ciresi and Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, will join the orchestra on stage to narrate the story with projected images.
Whether you’re a longtime jazz fan, a student musician, or just curious, this is a rare chance to hear some of Pennsylvania’s finest jazz players in one room.
The PA Jazz Alliance, Inc., in partnership with Pennsylvania Creative Industries and the National Endowment for the Arts, presents this concert series, which supports America250 PA’s mission to educate, preserve, and celebrate Pennsylvania history.
