About this Event
Oxford Global Jazz presents an exciting concert featuring trumpeter Peter Somuah with Career Development Research Fellow Dr Samuel Boateng and Adepa.
Somuah is the winner of the prestigious Edison Jazz Award for his 2022 album Outer Space, and in 2021 he received the Erasmus Jazz award for young jazz talent. Somuah’s warm and melancholic sound is influenced by his long dedication to the music of Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Roy Hargrove, and he brings a rhythmic sensibility reflecting his upbringing and musical roots in Ghana, West Africa.
Somuah has performed on many international stages and has worked with the WDR Big Band under the baton of musical cosmopolitan Michael Mossman.
Come for an evening of original music and explore the connections between jazz, funk, soul and traditional Ghanaian music, with a hint of electronics.
