About this Event
Participants will learn how communities can acquire, manage and develop public assets to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits. The session will explore the key stages of the asset transfer process, from identifying opportunities and engaging stakeholders to developing robust business cases and demonstrating community benefit. Through real-life examples and practical guidance, participants will build the knowledge and confidence needed to assess asset transfer opportunities, navigate application requirements, and develop sustainable community-led projects that create lasting local impact.
Delivered by Indigo Project Solutions and invited partners, this session draws on extensive hands-on experience of supporting community organisations, charities and social enterprises to assess, plan and progress community asset transfer opportunities. Indigo brings practical insight into the legal, governance, financial, risk and operational considerations involved in taking on public assets, as well as the importance of developing strong business cases, evidencing community benefit and planning for long-term sustainability. This real-world experience will provide participants with clear, practical guidance on how to approach an asset transfer with confidence, realism and a focus on lasting community impact.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided on the day.
