Join us for this opening session in our seminar series to hear more about the variety of research projects the REAL Centre team is working on. The work underpins the Centre’s aims to advance rigorous research for education and social justice in the Global South through equitable and ethical partnerships.
Dr Aditi Desai and Sohail Ahmad – Activating teacher agency for social justice through initial teacher education (ITE): Evaluating the embedding of Human-Centred Design approach using the 3 Ps (Policy, Programme and Practice) research approach across selected ITE programmes in Kenya, Pakistan and Tanzania.
Dr Amna Ansari - Data and Research in Education – Research Consortium (DARE-RC) project examining the availability, completeness and use of gender-disaggregated education data in Pakistan, focusing on girls’ education and the use of education data in decision-making.
Dr Laraib Niaz - Focusing on insights from the What Works Hub for Global Education projects on embedding Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion at scale. This work focuses on the political, institutional and implementation related factors impacting learning at scale with equity.
Dr Eunice Mueni Williams – Focusing on increasing the visibility and accessibility of early childhood development (ECD) research from sub-Saharan Africa, and working with ECD researchers to address some of the challenges they face, including access to funding.
Dr Dawit Tibebu Tiruneh - Are education financing approaches in low-income countries that are designed to promote equity also inadvertently reproducing inequity? Donor-driven results-based financing modalities can make equity more visible by linking funding to measurable results. But it can also narrow equity to the parts of inequality that can be predefined, verified and paid for.
