The question we're asking ourselves for October's Outside the Box is: What is "Transcendental Jazz"? Transcendental Jazz is a referent that came into descriptions of the music in the 1960s: "a desire to push the conventions of jazz, with artists choosing to search for transcendence and spirituality in their music" (from Astral Travelling: The Ecstasy of Spiritual Jazz" (Andy Beta 2015). Gathering together, transcendentally, for October's event are Steve Tromans (transcendental organ), James Tartaglia (saxes), Lee Allatson (drums), Trevor Lines (double bass), Dave Nock (guitar and percussion), with special guests T (poetry) and Ben Weaver (solo electric bass). 7.30pm doors, 8pm start, £5 entry (cash only)
