Learn safe and practical snorkelling techniques to explore our beautiful coastlines in this introductory snorkelling session for adults!
Dan the Merman, professional open water swimming instructor, will be guiding us through the basics of getting into the water comfortably, working with snorkel equipment and ensuring safety whilst snorkelling.
Although this session is targeted at beginners to snorkelling, a decent level of swim ability is advised. You should be able to swim 500 metres comfortably, and have experience of getting in the sea in a wetsuit, If you are still unsure, please get in touch with Dan at [email protected]
The snorkel will take place along the coastline near Ganavan Sands - precise meeting location to be sent to participants closer to the time.
For this session you will need the following kit:
- Swimsuit or wetsuit*
A swimsuit will be fine given the nature of the session but swimmers should wear what is comfortable for them.
- Snorkel and mask.
Any basic snorkel and mask will be fine. Be sure to try it on before the event so you know it fits and is comfortable.
- Neoprene swim socks and gloves*
It might not always be necessary on warmer days/summer but its recommended to have neoprene socks and gloves to protect your extremities and help with recovery.
- Plenty of loose, warm clothing layers for when out of the water
Very important, even on a hot day. Thick towel robes are useful.
- Warm gloves/mittens to wear for after being in the water
- Warm beanie or hat to wear for after being in the water
- Water bottle
- Towel
Please note that flippers are not required for this session
