Help us give the meadow a helping hand! 🌿
Join us for a hands-on day of meadow management at Woolsington Parish Ponds as we work together to care for this wonderful site.
We need your help to rake up and collect the cut meadow vegetation. Removing the cut material is an important part of managing a meadow for wildflowers and wildlife, helping to prevent nutrients building up in the soil and giving meadow plants the best chance to thrive.
We'll be working together to clear the meadow, with the opportunity to put some of the cut material to good use elsewhere on site where appropriate.
Expect a day of fresh air, teamwork and getting stuck in, with plenty of opportunities to learn more about meadow management and the wildlife that depends on these habitats.
What you'll be doing:
🌾 Raking up cut meadow vegetation
🍂 Gathering and moving the cut material
🌿 Helping to maintain a wildlife-rich meadow
🦋 Learning about meadow management and the wildlife it supports
💚 Helping to care for the site for the future
No previous experience is needed, and all equipment will be provided. Just bring sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing and a willingness to get stuck in!

Please plan your route beforehand as there is no on-site parking. A map with the meeting point and details for nearby parking is included below.
Photos will be taken at this event to use on social media and in NHSN publicity material. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please let us know at the start of the event.
Accessibility
Toilet facilities are not available, and there is no cafe on site.
The walk is approximately 1.5 miles along a trail. Please wear sturdy footwear as some of the paths can be uneven in places and can get muddy in places. This site is not generally regarded as wheelchair accessible.

Map to show how to get to meeting point (red x) below. Best options for parking are Cowell's Garden Centre (B on map, w3w//hops.agreed.neck) or layby on A696 (D on map, w3w//engage.pages.rival - please note this layby has limited parking).
